So sorry I did not post yesterday morning on Natirar! I got stuck in New Jersey on Saturday night because the trains back to New York City were all messed up after someone got run over on the tracks – sad news. Anyway, on a happier note, Natirar was fantastic. We had some really great food and much of it was either sourced from the farm on which the restaurant sits or surrounding local areas. If you live in New Jersey and have a car, I would highly recommend taking a little jaunt over to the restaurant. If you are a Manhattanite, it is definitely worth hiring a car service (if you are looking to get a little bit blasted off of their amazing Pumpkin Smash Martinis) or you can just grab a Zipcar and drive over for the evening.
On Sunday, I came back to the city and continued trying to clean up our post honeymoon apartment – it is finally getting there – at least our living room is currently clean…our guestroom, which basically functions as my dressing room is a holy mess with clothes strewn everywhere – it looks as though J. Crew, Ann Taylor and Bloomingdales threw up on the bed…needless to say, this needs to get done by the end of the week – it is pretty ridiculous.
Later in the day, I decided to make some low-calorie, fall treats – Pumpkin Cupcakes with a Cream Cheese Frosting – they turned out wonderfully. Super delicious and festive snack, but they won’t damage any hard work at the gym or good eating habits! For dinner, my good friend OliveOil came over – I am calling her OliveOil because she is able to literally eat burgers and milk shakes consistently and looks great – I wish I had genetics like that. Anyway, despite her love of Buffalo Wings, Bacon Cheeseburgers and other No-nos for me, I cooked us a fairly healthy dinner. I sauteed some of Fresh Direct’s pre-marinated Jerk Chicken, which is always super tasty, high in protein, low in fat and calories – great, easy way to eat tasty and healthy. In addition to the chicken, I made a spiced Fall Squash dish which consisted of spaghetti squash, sauteed eggplant, honeycrisp apples and red onions, spiced with a bit of cayenne pepper, curry powder and fresh cilantro! Yum! I also did a quick saute of Hen of the Woods mushrooms with fresh garlic, fresh ginger and fresh cilantro – these mushrooms are so great because they have a really fun texture and shape and they just wreak of fall.
After dinner, TH and I watched Homeland and Dexter and then passed out! All-in-all, great weekend with a few major food bombs, but not too bad. Looking forward to a great week filled with healthy food and hopefully some pretty hard core cardio sessions – I need to get in 45 minutes tonight! It is a must as I have the October Ball on Saturday and I need to squeeze my rapidly expanding booty into a super cute LBD.
