    Dear Fat Girl –

I have been gluten free for 4 days now, and… im so dizzy and nauseos. What’s wrong w/ me?! I broke down today and had some oatmeal (which has gluten.. Who knew?). I found myself in midotwn at 7am with NO OPTIONS except a nasty omlet from 1 of the 10 delis surrounding my office in time square. I don’t want eggs every day. I don’t have the time or energy to prepare food. If I stay at my boyfriends, I am completely helpless. I started on “gluten free” because my cousin told me that no one should eat gluten or dairy and that it is inherently bad for humans to consume and digest these things. Now I think my body is going through “Gluconeogenesis.” IS IT WORTH IT???

    Xx

    • Hi WannaBeSkinny4Summa,

I don’t really believe in being “anything-free” but I’m not a doctor or a nutritionist. I think eating an all bread based diet is not healthy…that being said, I think eating an all anything-based diet is not healthy. I am a total supporter of “everything in moderation”. Of course some things work better for certain individuals than they do for others and we are all affected by different foods differently. Unless you have an allergy to gluten, I don’t personally think its worth it, but again, I’m not a certified health professional. If you are very concerned from a health perspective you should see your doctor.

So the dizziness has stopped! Just wanted to update you! The problem now is my work schedule. EX: I just worked from 7am – 10pm and ate dinner at 10.30… not good!!!!! I can only pack so many food and snacks. When I’m focused, I can’t stop working. I know it shouldn’t be that hard to do little things to take care of yourself… but it is!!

    What are some little secrets!

    • Hi WannaBeSkinny4Summa,

While you want to be skinny for summer, I want to be skinny forever! I work a ton too and I know how hard it can be to make time for yourself, but I really feel that the key to feeling good, being happy, and eating well is all in your head. We all run around this ever running, ever buzzing, ever go go going city, and trust me, I’m guilty of it too. But, if we really want to keep running, buzzing and going we all need to slow down, smell the homeless man sitting next you on the subway (because unfortunately there are no roses to stop and smell) and most importantly, keep eating! While my goal is to feel great about myself in a city of rexie pixie sticks, I also don’t want to be one of them! I am a curvy voluptious woman with a fairly shapely badunkadunk and some other curves what Shakira likes to refer to as “mountains” (old song). Anyway, it’s extremely bad from a weight loss perspective for your mind and your body to stop eating for extended periods of time. If you don’t have time to run out and get something, there are tons of things you can keep at your desk or in your bag that take a long time to go bad. I have listed them below:

      1. Kashi Protein and Fiber Bars (2 ww pts)
      2. Fiber One Bars (my favorite are the apple flavor and the chocolate flavor) – these also taste much better than kashi, but don’t fill you up the same way (2 ww pts)
      3. Raw almonds (I’m not going to include WW points because nuts are high in fat and they are through the roof on WW, but they are super high in tein and just good for you so eat them a lot)

This last thing goes bad quickly but I’m going to list it here anyway:
      4. When you get home from your exhausting days make it a necessity to cut up some celery or pack up some baby carrots so that you can bring them to work with you the next day – this should eventually become part of your routine just like brushing your teeth

The list above is about all I have for little tips and tricks at my fingertips right now but if I think of any of the other ways I try to keep myself from being famished while still getting the proper nourishment, I will be sure to post!

Anyone out there who has some good suggestions for low cal, high fiber ways to keep your tummy breaking stuff down and your metabolism happy, please share them with us!

      Xoxo,
      Fat Girl
